Swap testnet assets with QuantaSwap
QuantaSwap lets two people exchange assets on Ethereum Sepolia and the private QRL 2.0 test network (Testnet v3). Each person uses their own wallets. This guide follows the ETH pair, from connecting both wallets to claiming or refunding a swap.

Before you start
QuantaSwap is live on test networks. Use Sepolia ETH and testnet Quanta, which have no monetary value. The public interface currently labels the QRL network QRL Testnet v3 (Private).
You need an Ethereum wallet with Sepolia ETH and a QRL wallet with a Q-prefixed address. Keep enough test funds for your swap and network fees. The ZondScan faucet supplies testnet Quanta. Your Ethereum wallet needs Sepolia ETH to pay fees on that chain.
Back up both wallets. Keep seed phrases private. Keep the swap tab open and use the same browser until the swap or refund is complete. The browser stores the swap record and, for the maker, the secret needed to finish it.
Connect both wallets
- Open quantaswap.io and select ETH wallet. Choose your Ethereum wallet and approve the connection. Use the Sepolia network.
- Select QRL wallet. Choose MyQRLWallet's extension or its QRL Connect pairing option. Follow the dApp connection guide for the web wallet or mobile app.
- Check both connected accounts and networks. Verify the full receiving addresses against your wallets before approving any swap transaction.
- Choose QRL/ETH in the order book. The QRL amount is shown in Quanta. The page also offers test token pairs; this walkthrough uses native Sepolia ETH.
Take an existing order
- Select an order in the book. Read the confirmation in terms of what you send and what you receive. Check the amounts and maker availability.
- Confirm the order. For a signed order, review and sign the fill request in MyQRLWallet. This authorizes the proposed trade terms.
- Wait for the maker to lock their funds. For a pre-funded order, wait for the maker to assign the escrow to your address. QuantaSwap checks the on-chain amount, asset, recipient, shared hash and remaining time before allowing your lock.
- Approve the transaction that locks your side of the swap. Check the network, contract, amount and fee in the wallet confirmation.
- Wait for the maker to claim your locked funds. That claim reveals the secret on-chain.
- Use the revealed secret to claim the maker's funds when the app enables the claim. A maker may submit this claim for you, with the payout fixed to your address. Check that both legs have completed and follow the explorer links for the receipts.
Each lock and claim is a separate on-chain action. Keep watching the swap after your first approval.
Post your own order
- In Post an order, choose the direction. Enter the amount you give and the amount you want. For example, you might offer Sepolia ETH and ask for a chosen amount of Quanta.
- Check the receiving account and displayed timelocks. For a standard listing, leave Pre-fund unchecked.
- Select Post order. Review the complete order terms in MyQRLWallet and approve the ML-DSA-87 message signature. Standard posting publishes the offer without moving funds.
- Keep the page open while waiting for a taker. When a taker accepts, follow the prompt to lock your leg first.
- Wait until the app verifies the taker's lock. Claim the taker's funds to reveal the secret, then watch for the other leg to settle.
Pre-fund escrows your funds when you post. It requires an on-chain transaction. An unassigned pre-funded escrow can be released by its maker; after assignment, the swap follows its claim and timeout rules.
Posting and taking signed orders can request message signatures before any funds move. Read the asset, amount, network and contract terms in each signing request.
How the two contracts settle
A hashed timelock contract, or HTLC, holds funds under a shared hash and a deadline. The maker creates a secret in their browser. Both contracts use its hash to recognize the same swap.
- The maker locks the first leg with the longer deadline.
- The taker verifies it and locks the second leg with a shorter deadline.
- The maker claims the second leg by revealing the secret.
- The taker uses that public secret to claim the first leg before its deadline.
The current standard form displays two hours for the maker's leg and one hour for the taker's leg. Always follow your swap's actual deadlines. Pre-funded orders have their own timing. The longer first deadline leaves time for the second claim.
The order book coordinates the trade. The HTLCs hold and pay out the funds. Claims go to the recipient fixed in each escrow. Network transaction fees still apply.
Recover a stalled swap
- Open the saved swap in the same browser. Check which legs were locked, whether a secret was revealed and how much time remains.
- If the secret has been revealed and your receiving leg is still claimable, complete the claim promptly while its window remains open.
- If your funded leg is unclaimed when its deadline passes, use the app's Refund action for that leg and approve the refund transaction in the wallet that funded it.
- Check the refund receipt and wallet balance before discarding the swap record.
A timeout makes a refund available. You still need to submit the refund transaction and pay its network fee. Avoid clearing site data or revealing the maker's secret privately while funds are locked.
If a payout is recorded as a credit because the recipient could not receive it, follow the app's payout-credit controls to collect it. Check the credit balance as well as the swap status.
Share a private swap
- Set your offer in Post an order and enable Private swap.
- Review the optional taker-address restrictions. Enter the intended counterparty's addresses if you want to restrict who can accept.
- Post the order and share its private link with your counterparty. They connect both wallets and review the offer at that link.
- Keep both parties available and follow the same lock, claim and refund process.
A private order stays out of the public book. Anyone with the link may be able to open the offer, and the on-chain transactions remain public. Keep the link within your intended audience.
Practice in the sandbox
- Open the QuantaSwap sandbox and connect both wallets.
- Enter small test amounts that you can fund on both networks. The sandbox uses the rate you enter.
- Start the swap. Follow all four stages: lock the first leg, lock the second leg, claim with the secret and claim the remaining leg.
- Check both explorer receipts. You play both roles, so the funds move between accounts you control.
The sandbox submits real testnet transactions and uses testnet gas. It is useful for learning the full sequence before arranging a trade with another person.
