Set up the desktop wallet
MyQRLWallet Desktop is available for Windows and Linux. It keeps wallet keys and signing in an isolated signer process and asks you to approve transfers in a native confirmation dialog. This guide covers setup and everyday use on the private QRL 2.0 test network (Testnet v3).
Install the desktop wallet
- Open the latest MyQRLWallet Desktop release from DigitalGuards.
- On Windows, download and run the .exe installer. On Linux, choose the AppImage, .deb, or .rpm package for your system. Mark an AppImage as executable before opening it.
- Launch MyQRLWallet and wait for the wallet to connect to the test network.
The current installers are unsigned, so your operating system may show a publisher warning. Check the release source and use the published SHA-256 checksums to verify the downloaded file.
Create a wallet
- Select Create a new account.
- Set and confirm a strong wallet password. This password unlocks the desktop signer and protects the saved wallet on this computer.
- Select Create account. Keep the recovery screen open while you back up the phrase.
Back up your recovery phrase
- Write every recovery word in its displayed order. Check the words and their order against the screen.
- Store the phrase safely offline. The desktop creation screen shows this phrase once, so complete your backup before leaving it.
- Select Done and acknowledge the backup warning once your phrase is saved.
Keep your recovery phrase private. Anyone with the words can control the account. Never share them with support, a faucet, or a dApp. Store your written backup somewhere safe and offline.
Import an existing wallet
- Select Import an existing account.
- Choose Import with Mnemonic and enter your recovery phrase. You can also choose Import with Hex Seed or Import Encrypted Wallet for a supported backup file.
- Complete the import form. At Set Wallet Password, set and confirm the password you will use to unlock this desktop wallet.
- Check that the restored Q address matches the account you wanted to open.
An encrypted backup file also requires the password used when that file was created. Keep your recovery phrase after importing.
Get test Quanta from the faucet
- Open your account and select Receive. Copy the full address, which starts with Q.
- Open the ZondScan faucet. Paste your address, check it against the wallet, and submit a request. Complete any verification shown on the page.
- Wait for the transaction to appear in the explorer and for your wallet balance to update. Follow any retry or waiting instructions the faucet displays.
The faucet supplies test Quanta for this QRL 2.0 test network. Test funds have no monetary value. See ZondScan's faucet guide for more detail.
Receive Quanta
- Select the account you want to receive into, then open Receive. Share its Q address or the address QR code with the sender.
- Ask the sender to use the same QRL 2.0 test network. Check your balance and history after the transaction confirms.
Your public address is safe to share for receiving funds. Keep your recovery phrase private.
Send with the isolated signer
- Unlock the wallet, select your funded account, and open Send.
- Enter the recipient's full Q address and an amount in Quanta. Check the estimated network fee, then select Send Quanta.
- Read the native confirmation dialog. Verify the full recipient address, amount, maximum fee, and network before approving.
- Approve the transfer when the details are correct. The signer signs the transaction, and the wallet shows the result and transaction hash.
The confirmation dialog is your final check. Cancel if any detail differs from the transfer you intended to make.
View transaction history
- Return to your account and select History. Check the incoming and outgoing transactions for that account.
- Use a transaction's explorer link, or paste its transaction hash into ZondScan, to check its status and details.
If a transfer is still pending, check its status before sending again. Learn how to read the result in ZondScan's transaction guide.
Lock and unlock the wallet
- Select Lock in the wallet navigation when you finish.
- In the unlock window, select the account if you have more than one, enter its wallet password, and select Unlock. The same unlock window appears when you reopen a saved wallet.
- Open Settings to adjust the Auto-lock timeout. After that period of inactivity, the wallet requires your password again.
Keep the recovery phrase safe even if you use the wallet every day. It lets you restore the account if the computer or saved wallet is lost.
Keep exploring
Try connecting a dApp, explore swaps, or read the staking guide. The explorer guide helps you follow activity on the network.
